Dr. Eric Johnson is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with subspecialty fellowship training in sports medicine. His focus is on minimally invasive techniques and treatments for shoulder, knee, ankle, elbow, wrist, and hip injuries. Whether you are a world-class athlete or a weekend warrior, Dr. Johnson will help you return to the sport that you love as quickly as possible.

Dr. Johnson attended the University of Michigan, where he graduated with honors in chemical engineering. He received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his internship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he also completed his orthopaedic residency training - serving as chief resident during his final year.

After his residency, Dr. Johnson was accepted into the world-renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Foundation fellowship training program in Los Angeles, California. At Kerlan-Jobe, he completed an additional year of training in sports medicine under the guidance of world experts. This highly competitive fellowship has produced more leading sports medicine surgeons in the world than any other sports medicine fellowship and it is very highly regarded in the field of sports medicine.

Following the Haitian earthquake in 2010, Dr. Johnson led a voluntary emergency surgical insertion team to Port-au-Prince, where he provided emergency disaster relief and orthopaedic trauma surgery to those in need.

Dr. Johnson has served as assistant team physician for multiple professional teams, including the Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Angels, Anaheim Ducks, and Los Angeles Sparks. Through these positions, Dr. Johnson gained invaluable experience treating world-class athletes.

Dr. Johnson currently provides orthopaedic treatment and coverage for the PGA as well as the OHSAA state tournament football championships. He has extensive experience serving as team physician for multiple high schools. He has been the official medical provider for the World Golf Championships Bridgestone Invitational since 2011, including treatment of numerous professional golfers.

Dr. Johnson is active in orthopaedic societies and has published papers in peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Sports of Medicine. He has also presented nationally, as well as at the annual Sports Medicine Academy.

He is a clinical assistant professor for orthopaedic surgery at Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. He serves as a consultant to multiple orthopaedic companies where he works to develop the latest technologies and surgical procedures. He travels the country giving lectures and running cadaver labs instructing other surgeons on specific techniques and treatments.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Johnson enjoys golfing, college football, travel, and spending time with his family.
